The first step for every Christian is believers' baptism. Jesus commanded it (Matthew 28:19), and obedience in this step leads to great joy (Acts 8:36-39). Baptism is important because it pictures our union with Jesus. We are crucified, buried, and risen to new life in Him (Romans 6:3-5). If you have repented of your sin and believed on Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, your next step is to publicly declare your faith in Him through baptism.
At Living Hope, we practice baptism by immersion only because that is the pattern we find in Scripture (Mark 1:9-10, John 3:23) and because only immersion can portray death, burial, and resurrection (Romans 6:4).
