One of the greatest gifts that God desires to give to you is hope. When the Bible speaks of hope, it doesn’t refer to something that is merely possible or even probable--it means confident assurance. In other words, hope in the Bible speaks of God’s guarantee to us that He will not break His promise and that we can rest in complete confidence because He is faithful.
There is no greater hope a person can possess than hope beyond death. Do you have complete confidence concerning where you will be one second after you die? You can. In fact, the whole reason that Jesus Christ lived on this earth, died on the cross, and rose again from the dead is so that you could possess the hope of eternal life.
1 Peter 1:3-4 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”

The hope that God gives is not just for time; it is for eternity. It is not just for this life; it is for life beyond the grave. It is hope that enables us to face death with absolute certainty that we will live in heaven with Him forever. “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began” (Titus 1:2).
